Craftsy is building an online education and social collaboration platform, and looking for enthusiastic and talented engineers to join us. Our website is one of the fastest growing online communities out there. We are rapidly expanding into new communities and we are looking for a top notch Java Engineer to help us scale our product and our platform. Responsibilities will include development of new product offerings and integration with existing and emerging data structures. In this role you will be successful if you can:

  • Support development on our high traffic website (millions of uniques per month)
  • Support and ensure our platform is able to handle a large amount of traffic, large spikes of traffic, and support traffic from many geographic areas and technology platforms (mobile web, PC, tablet, etc.)
  • Help introduce new technologies to solve complex technical problems and work to solve problems that are product or consumer focused in nature
  • Support and encourage a thought process around solving our unique user challenges, and have a customer and product-centric orientation with technical solutions.
  • Utilize existing infrastructure when necessary and build from scratch when appropriate.

Sound like something you’d love to do? Awesome! Your experience and background should include, but doesn’t need to be limited to:

  • Solid experience as a Java Engineer
  • Experience with MVC frameworks such as Spring MVC, Jersey
  • Knowledge of data persistence techniques and frameworks.
  • Experience building on a Tomcat / PostgreSQL / Hibernate / Spring / Spring MVC stack.
  • Our site has heavy utilization of AJAX / REST / jQuery, experience with aspects of this stack are expected
  • Understanding concepts of developing web services is a plus.
  • Being a team oriented engineer interested in all aspects of development (Architecture, Design (UX), Development, Test)

A big plus if you have experience with:

  • Amazon EC2 experience
  • Cloud EC2/Unix/Maven experience
  • NoSQL any flavors
  • Building large data systems using MapReduce / Hadoop
